Energy Saving Pool Meets Part L - Consumer Press Release

INSULATE TO ACCUMULATE SAVINGS - AND MEET NEW POOL BUILDING REGULATIONS!

Investing in a swimming pool offers family fun and fitness in the comfort of your own home, and has the added benefit of enhancing the value of your property. Selecting a pool that suits your lifestyle - and your budget - can be a daunting process - and now there’s another point to consider as minimum insulation requirements for indoor heated pools come into force in October 2010 as part of amendments to Part L of the Building Regulations. This legislation is aimed at strengthening energy efficiency standards and making further cuts in CO2 emissions.

The new regulations will have an immediate impact on pool construction, requiring pool builders to provide local authorities with drawings and calculations demonstrating how the proposed construction complies with the new insulation criteria. Whilst it is important to ensure that your chosen pool system meets the new regulations, it’s not simply a matter of compliance. A fully insulated indoor pool, like Polypool’s heat-retaining swimming pool panel system, can also save you hundreds of pounds a year in running costs by reducing heat lost into the ground through the pool walls and floor.

Polypool’s existing wall panel system already exceeds the thermal requirements of current Building Regulations. Now, in readiness for the new requirements, Polypool has launched a new insulated floor panel to create a fully insulated swimming pool basin (walls and floor) with a U-value (the measure of heat flow through a building component) of 0.018W/m2K - well below the new maximum heat loss U-value of 0.025W/m2K under Part L 2010. Polypool offers this new insulated technology with a choice of a liner or tiled finish to create your perfect swimming environment.

Polypool’s Managing Director, Ryan Fonda, says the company’s new patented total pool system retains up to 96% of heat that would otherwise be lost through the pool walls and floor using traditional construction methods. He comments: “This means that as well as complying with the new regulations, Polypool customers can enjoy lower running costs through even greater energy savings. In fact, we calculate that on average they could save up to £600 a year on gas heating costs for an 8.5m x 4.5m pool. You can check out the savings for yourself using the Energy Calculator on our website at www.polypool.co.uk.”

With over 40 years of experience in swimming pool construction technology, Polypool already has a clear lead in insulated pool wall and panel systems that combine the benefits of affordability ease of installation, and effective heat conservation. Recent developments have given Polypool an expanded product range and better serviced network of dealers and installers. For more information please visit www.polypool.co.uk.
